2017 Volkswagen Passat vs. 2017 Honda Accord

While the two vehicles are very similar at first glance, we can point out a number of advantages to the Volkswagen Passat over the Honda Accord. With the same estimated monthly payment, you'll be getting more car for your money with the Volkswagen Passat.

• The Volkswagen Passat squeezes out more mpg than the Accord. Its fuel tank is over a gallon larger, too, so you'll really go farther on a tank of gas.
• Not only will the better fuel economy save you some money in the long run, opting for the VW Passat means lower CO₂ emissions over the life of your vehicle.
• The Volkswagen Passat brings more pound-feet of torque to the equation. Horsepower is similar between the two cars, but you'll experience better acceleration with the VW Passat.
• Volkswagen provides optional Stolen Vehicle Tracking/Assistance technology, which isn't an option on the Honda Accord. (Maybe it should be, given that used Accords were the most stolen vehicle of 2015!)
• The Volkswagen Passat provides more space for rear passengers, which reduces complaint output during long trips. That could mean a significant decrease in overall passenger whining throughout the lifetime of the car!

2017 Volkswagen Passat Options

The VW Passat is available in seven different trim levels. The base model comes with features like dual-zone automatic climate control, a 5-inch touchscreen, a rearview camera, and a collision mitigation system with automatic braking. The two highest levels of trim come equipped with a 3.6-liter engine that delivers more horsepower and torque than the most premium Accord. Some other available features include remote start, heated front and rear seats (cut back passenger complaints even more!), a premium Fender audio system, and an automated parallel-parking feature.
